Speaker: Shraddha Gosavi, Founder Gramiyo

Abstract: Rural tourism in India is often viewed as an economic opportunity, but its long-term impact depends on how deeply it is rooted in local livelihoods, culture, and ecology. Drawing from her journey as an architect and rural practitioner, Shraddha shares insights from building Gramiyo--an initiative working village by village to create community-led, village anchored travel experiences. The talk examines how architecture, food, craft, agriculture, and everyday life can become the foundation for sustainable rural livelihoods, while also addressing ethical challenges, climate realities, and the limits of extractive tourism models.
